Nick Garton With the arrival of the 312T in 1975 a new era of Ferrari dominance was ushered in with Lauda hitting an imperious run of form. The AustrianÕs glory was to be interrupted by the dramatic story of the 1976 season and although a fighting return to form in 1977 saw Lauda claim the title, a reckless Canadian charger called Gilles Villeneuve would take his place. It was Villeneuve who would drive the last generation of 312T cars into legend Ð although it was his older, wiser teammate Jody Scheckter who would claim the last claim the last world championship for a Grand Prix car built exclusively by Italian hands.
